Fingerprinting and Background Checks

FINGERPRINTING WILL ONLY BE CONDUCTED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY

ALL Jordan School District employees must be fingerprinted and have cleared a background check before they begin working.

ESP employees can do this by coming into the Human Resource Department.

  • There is no cost to new employees.
  • As required by State law, current ESP employees are required to complete a fingerprint.   Based on guidance from the Bureau of Criminal Identification (BCI) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the District is required to remove previous employees from the FBI Rapback fingerprint system within five (5) days of resignation.  Classified/Miscellaneous employees who resign, or who are resigned due to inactivity, will be required to complete a new fingerprint, including paying the fingerprint fee, if they return to employment with JSD.

Licensed employees will need to have this done through USBE (Utah State Board of Education).  When USBE has received your information and request for background check they will add you to CACTUS (Comprehensive Administration of Credentials for Teachers in Utah Schools); you must be on CACTUS to teach or intern with Jordan School District.  Following are instructions, you may do this at home or here in the District Office:

  • You need to go to https://secure.utah.gov/elr/welcome.html to begin your background check.
  • Once you are there click on “Background Check.”
  • Enter in your information and follow the directions.
  • Pay the required amount with a credit card, if applicable.
  • After you have paid and completed your information you will need to print the Authorization Letter and take this with you to the LiveScan location.  The second page of the printout is a list of all locations that do LiveScan fingerprints.  You may come into the District Office at 7387 Campus View Drive, West Jordan, Utah 84084, or you may choose another location. You must bring the printed Authorization Letter with you.
